**Position Details Job Number**: 36-2023 Category: Research Title: Research Technician II - Gigante Project - by task Date Posted: 08-14-2023 09:10 AM Description: You will have some of the following responsibilities: -The primary duties are to organize field work and participate in data collection for forest monitoring protocols in Panama including tree damage assessments, diameter measurements, measurements of woody debris, etc.Assist with data collection using drones, including carrying equipment, assisting the pilot with flights, and collecting associated ground data. -Train interns, scientific visitors, and others in research protocols in Spanish or English, as requested. -Make datasheets, enter data, check data, organize data files and archives of physical datasheets. Keep logs of activities and project status up-to-date.
- Provide input on written protocols and assist in producing Spanish versions of protocols. -Maintain equipment inventory and organization, see that equipment maintenance is performed as needed, and ensure the availability of necessary laboratory supplies and equipment. Organize transportation to field sites.Safely carry heavy equipment (, ladders) in the field as needed. -Performance of other duties as assigned, including tasks associated with forest biology projects that vary year-to-year.
