**Our History**:Oxitec was formed in 2002 by Oxford University Innovation and, in 2015, was acquired by U.S.based Intrexon.

Since inception, Oxitec has pioneered work on controlling insects that spread disease and damage crops through world-class genetic engineering and the use of self-limiting gene technology. In the mid and late 2000s, Oxitec successfully deployed genetically engineered insects in select locations in the USA, Caribbean, South America, and has continued to grow these projects, expanding to new regions and countries.

In 2016, the World Health Organization (WHO) issued a positive recommendation in support of Oxitec’s self-limiting mosquitoes (OX513A) for a planned pilot in response to the Zika virus outbreak. Oxitec continues to engage with communities around the world that are in need of effective, scalable solutions to combat the dangerous vectors that threaten lives and livelihoods.

Oxitec is a subsidiary of Intrexon Corporation ( NASDAQ: XON), which engineers biology to help solve some of the world’s biggest problems.

**Purpose of the Job**

Oxitec’s Field Operations Manager for Central America will be responsible for the day-to-day logistics and operations, both laboratory and field, to serve our regional field pilots and related activities.

You will take a proactive approach to making sure the team have everything they need to successfully execute our field pilot program - from vehicles, to equipment, to data apps.

Working closely with our Head of Global Field Programs, Program Manager and our partner organisations, you will lead and train the team, ensuring compliance with all regulatory and data collection requirements, to deliver successful pilot demonstrations.

**Responsibilities**

- Ability to execute our activities according to all regulatory standards and requirements.

Specifically, the Field Operations Manager will:

- Direct field and lab teams in all project activities, balancing workloads between teams and individuals to ensure all activities are completed on time and to an exemplary standard;
- Work directly with UK-based production, quality, field trials and research staff to ensure required materials, information, protocols, and training are all in place for the local team;
- Work closely with partner organization’s technical staff to coordinate operations and ensure alignment with our program and activities where required;
- Lead by example in communicating with community members with accuracy and respect;
- Cultivate a cohesive, outstanding, and ambitious team in alignment with Oxitec’s values;
- Ensure all staff are fully trained to complete the tasks required of them;
- Evaluate and manage staff performance, ensuring a high standard of work and productivity across the team;
- Generate operational reports in Word, Excel or PowerPoint to provide timely information about operational progress for the US Trials Program Manager and UK team;
- Be responsible for robust sharing of knowledge within the group and other teams;
