The UNICEF Latin America and Caribbean Regional Office is based in in Panama, operating in 36 territories, including 24 country offices.

To fulfill its mandate, the availability and utilization of high-quality, timely data on the situation of children in the region as well as the progress towards programmatic results is indispensable. UNICEF LACRO has identified a number of strategic challenges the monitoring function is facing in the region. These include a lack of timely and in-depth data analysis, the underutilization of available data for planning and decision making, and a weak data culture.

**How can you make a difference?**

UNICEF is seeking services of a data visualization specialist to carry out the activities necessary to support the analysis and visualization of data related to children.

This consultancy will contribute to strengthening data culture in the regional and country offices by improving data analysis and visualization capabilities. Under the supervision of the Regional Monitoring Specialist, the incumbent will be responsible for the cleaning, analysis and visualization of other data related to children, as well as strengthen data-related capacities of country offices in the region.

The consultant is expected to present technical information and findings easily understood by the programme sectors and the management, such as data visualization and narrative writing.

**Specific Tasks**:
The main responsibilities and tasks are outlined below:

- Analyze and produce visualizations of regional programme results- Clean raw data provided by country offices and through UNICEF corporate data systems
- Support the quality control of programme data
- Visualize change in key indicators according to programme staff’s needs
- Conduct additional analysis to identify trends
- Capacity building support- Identify capacity building needs for data visualization
- Prepare a capacity development plan
- Support capacity building on data visualization through webinars and/or one-on-one support
- Conduct additional data analysis and visualization as required

The incumbent will provide weekly updates of the progress of work and participate in weekly coordination calls with the regional monitoring and planning specialists (LACRO). The consultant will respect the confidentiality of any data used for the project. Unless publicly available, the documents and datasets shared with the consultant can only be used of the tasks outlined in these terms of reference. Each deliverable will undergo several rounds of review and feedback by the regional monitoring specialist. All products compiled and/or produced under this contract are the intellectual property of UNICEF. The consultant will work from home using own equipment and stationery. No travel is expected for this consultancy.
