The internship is located in the front office of the UNODC Regional Representative for Central America and the Caribbean in Panama City, Panama.

The internship is for the period of three (3) months, UNPAID and full-time and has an envisaged starting date in June 2023. Interns work five days per week (40 hours) under the supervision of professional staff of the office to which they are assigned.

**Responsibilities**:
The intern shall undertake the following duties which may include, but are not limited to:

- Support the day-to-day work of the Regional Representative in the smooth running of the office;
- Support in the development of concept notes and funding proposals and assist in project and programme monitoring and reporting;
- Assist in the preparation of technical missions and undertake related research;
- Assist in the preparation of technical assistance workshops, meetings, high-level events and conferences and support related follow up actions;
- Conduct research on various aspects related to the UNODC mandate in Central America and the Caribbean and contribute to the preparation of technical documents, background papers, country profiles, news events, presentations, reports, summaries, talking points and speeches;
- Draft correspondence and communications, attend and take notes in meetings;
- Perform other tasks as necessary.

Education

To qualify for an internship with the United Nations Internship Programme, the following conditions must be met:

- Applicants must meet one of the following requirements: (a) be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); (b) be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s level or equivalent). (OFFICIAL WRITTEN PROOF FROM THE UNIVERSITY SUPPORTING ONE OF THE ABOVE POSSIBILITIES MUST BE ATTACHED TO THE INSPIRA APPLICATION);
- Have a demonstrated keen interest in the work of the United Nations and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the Charter; and
- Have a demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, which include willingness to try and understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views.

Work Experience

Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations. For this position, fluency in spoken and written Spanish and English is required for the internship. Knowledge of another official UN language is an asset.
