**Position Details Job Number**: 22-2023 Category: Research Title: Research Technician II - Molecular Laboratory 2023 Date Posted: 06-20-2023 07:35 AM Description: You will have some of the following responsibilities: -Develop, assist, and/or implement molecular analyses, including DNA extraction, amplification, and sequencing of samples-Maintain a local database of all samples that are processed-Process and analyze sequence data and upload results to public databases-Document and maintain files of the projects under his/her responsibility.Ensure that data quality meets high standards by optimizing protocols for processing of samples and troubleshooting problem samples. This includes checking the quality of DNA extractions, DNA amplifications, and sequences and may require modifying standard protocols-Assist the Laboratory Technical Manager with laboratory operation and maintenance, as needed, to ensure an efficient, safe and effective laboratory-Provide advice and guidance to lab members on molecular techniques -Coordinate, assist, and occasionally train students, interns and other lab users.Periodically present work from his/her area of responsibility to immediate supervisor, committee, or others as required.Periodically undergo training to better fulfill duties.Perform any other duties inherent to the position and/or assigned by the immediate supervisor.In emergencies—accidents, flooding—call 28211 for help; inform the supervisor.Perform other duties as an assigned. To be successful in this role, you should meet the following requirements: -Bachelors and/or master's degree in Molecular Biology and/or Genetics.One to two years of experience working in a molecular biology laboratory, including DNA extraction, PCR, DNA sequencing, and data analysis-Ability to communicate with and relate to a wide range of people fluently in both English and Spanish in a multicultural environment.Knowledge of computer software applications such as MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), Geneious and other related to his/her duties.
