Interpreter - Translator

**Job Title: Interpreter - Translator**

**Based at: Panama**

**Qualifications**:
**Simultaneous/Consecutive Interpretation Services**:

- At least three years of experience
- Professional and experienced interpreters with native level ability to speak the language with sufficient structural accuracy and vocabulary
- Participate effectively in most formal and informal conversations on practical, social, and professional topics (at a minimum).
- Preferred previous experience working with US Army South, US Southern Command or another US military agency and must possess thorough knowledge of military terminology. However, this is not a limiting factor.

**Document Translation Services**
- Technically qualified and experienced native speaking language specialists, to proof-read, edit, and provide the final product layout and output, in the required media format (i.e., hardcopy or electronic).
- It is preferred that the Translators have previous experience working with US Army South, US Southern Command or another US military agency and must possess thorough knowledge of military terminology. However, this is not a limiting factor.

**Duties**:
**On-site Interpretation Services**:

- Provide simultaneous interpretation from Spanish to English and from English to Spanish as required,
- Provide interpretation services for briefings, meetings, and social events.
- Interpreters are expected to interpret the speaker and not simply read from the briefing bullets/notes).

**Off-site Translation Services**:

- Translations will be reviewed, and any errors will be sent back for corrections one time and shall be returned the following day.
- Translations will primarily be PowerPoint briefings ranging from 15 - 20 pages and will include graphics.
- Word documents are typically 10-40 pages in size.

**On-site Translation Services**
- Translated copies will be provided back within a time period of 20 minutes per 500 words
