Sddc Engineer

The SDDC Engineer ensures availability, performance and other targets are met in furtherance of Iridium Program objectives. This role is responsible for the following: Supports Automation Engineers in the creation of underlying artifacts to be consumed in the automated offering. Ensures platform consistency & health in all the controlled deployments. Reviews vSAN usage patterns & propose new standards for the offer.

Provides Tier 1 or 2 support for VMware Infrastructure components Responds to events and incidents, taking appropriate action to prevent negative impact to customers of Iridium services Supports Service Automation Engineers and Service Developers in implementation of any required integration with external systems Executes validation plan when deploying new infrastructure components or services Operates and maintains Infrastructure for test and development environments Operates and maintains Infrastructure for production environments that require 24x7 accessibility Works with other engineers, architects and analysts on maintenance of all environments Maintains awareness of software patches and their impact upon the environment or services Performs platform upgrades in coordination with the rest of the team, ensuring platform evolution. Assists with change management process as applied to Iridium Infrastructure or services Remediates VMware Infrastructure component configuration inconsistencies Works with the security team to implement security and compliance policies Monitoring Iridium Cloud infrastructure and services Creates runbook entries and standard operating procedures (SOP) for L1/NOC teams in response to events, tickets, or incidents Provides feedback to Architects & Automation Engineers to improve the overall service, taking into account the SDDC behavior Creates knowledgebase articles as needed Provides on-call response outside core business hoursResponsibilities in the Cloud Transformation ProgramSupports other transformation projects led by the Cloud/IT infra team as neededKey InterfacesWorks with Service Analysts to resolve infrastructure or services issues Provides support to Service Automation Engineers and Service Owners in response to event, incident or issue escalations Supports Service Automation Engineers and Service Developers as required to perform integration tasks or other configuration changes Supports Service Analysts and IT security team to ensure that Iridium Cloud infrastructure aligns with IT security and compliance policiesExperienceWhat experience is necessary to do this job?
