The brand is sold globally in over 75 countries with approximately 2,000 points of sale.Your role: Tumi is seeking a Data Engineer to join our Digital Technology team who will design, deliver, and support Tumi’s data platform that is responsible to drive revenue and improve efficiency in line with business strategy. With a consumer-centric focus, TUMI is looking for an individual who has a passion for data strategy and data management.
This key role will maintain an in-depth view of the organization’s data designs and architectures. This role will be accountable for an aspirational roadmap for the Digital stack with a focus on industry specific trends, emerging technologies, and strategic differentiators. The individual will present and socialize the current and future state of Data Platforms to various digital stakeholders. This role will report to the Director of Digital Operations and Technology.
This is a newly created role on the team, with oversight on multiple teams and vendors involved. Key Responsibilities Act as the technical owner of “data”, its insights, and its solutions built on Tumi’s data platform and data operationsPartner with multiple teams to create prototypes and proof of conceptsSupport development, automation, configuration management and deployment of our cloud-native data pipelines to support business critical operations and analytics.Design and advocate for modern data solutions using cloud native technologies, solid design principles, secure integration points, and automated deployments.Create tooling, structure, automation for new initiatives and existing data pipelinesOwn code pipeline and service configuration management needs of the Data platform teamOwn development, test, and production environments within Data Engineering eco-system We're excited if you have: 3+ years of experience building Data Engineering solutionsBachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field Strong ability to understand, document and communicate technical architectures, best practices, tool sets, and solutions.Collaborative skills to partner with other development teams and business analysts to deliver revenue impacting data infrastructure/platform solutionsExcellent communication skills (written and verbal, formal, and informal).Flexible and proactive/self-motivated working style with strong personal ownership.Strong and innovative approach to problem solving and finding solutions.Experienced in working across global teams and adapting the architecture to meet regional technology needs Preferred Knowledge/Skills Strong ANSI SQL development skills (DML, DCL, DDL)Strong knowledge of AWS ecosystemExperience with Snowflake as a data lakeStrong Scripting knowledge - automation using python/bash/other scripting languageExperience in working with integration ETL tools like Datastage, Talend, Matillion, StitchUnderstanding of SCM principles and experience with versioning tools like Git, BitBucket etc.Exposure to NoSQL databases (Dynamo, Cassandra, Mongo etc.)Experience with build & IAC tools like Ant, Maven, Gradle, Jenkins, Cloud Formation, Terraform etc. is a plus.Experience developing web based interactive visualization tools and dashboards for Analytics is a plus.
