**Qualifications and experience**
- Qualification as Chief engineer;
- At least a year of experience as 2nd engineer;
- In possession of all appropriate certificates, according to Flag, STCW, ILO, and other Local Regulations.

**Knowledge and skills**
- Good knowledge of International legislation and regulations relating shipping;
- Good technical abilities;
- Administrative capacities;
- Appropriate knowledge of the company's management system.
- English & Spanish languages

**Responsibilities**:

- ensures a safe and efficient operation and maintenance of the main engine and
- propulsion equipment;
- ensures a proper maintenance in compliance with the schedules / PMS system;
- keeps the stock of spare parts and engine room stores up-to-date;
- takes care of the corresponding items under consideration of a minimum stock;
- performs the necessary repairs;
- making sure that all engine room operations are properly recorded in corresponding logs;
- makes sure that all the engine room operations are in compliance with international and national regulations;
- is responsible for the administration in relation with the bunkers, maintenance and inventory;
- is responsible for monitoring and checking work carried out by sub-contractors and or service engineers;
- is responsible for tidiness of the entire engine room.
- Ensure to achieve KPI’s / SEEMP.
- Attend Company Seminars every two-year intervals.
