This is a senior-level position within the UN Women Regional Office for the Americas and the Caribbean, located in Panama. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in advancing women's economic empowerment in the region.
About UN WomenUN Women is the global champion for gender equality, working to advance women's rights and opportunities in all spheres of life. With its headquarters in New York, UN Women has country offices and programs in over 100 countries, including the United States.
Key Responsibilities- Program Development: Manage the development of programs on gender equality and women's economic rights, supporting Programme Presence Office (PPO)/Country Office (CO)/Multi Country Office (MCO) teams.
- Capacity Building: Lead the provision of capacity building support to PPO/CO/MCO teams and partners, focusing on developing and strengthening policies, projects, and modalities to support the implementation of global norms and standards.
- Partnerships: Establish and strengthen strategic partnerships with stakeholders, regional/international actors, and development partners to advance women's economic empowerment.
- Resource Mobilization: Manage the resource mobilization strategy for women's economic empowerment in the region, participating in the implementation, monitoring, and updating of the strategy.
- Knowledge Products: Lead the design of knowledge products on women's economic empowerment in the region, providing policy recommendations and guidance to strategic planning and positioning on women's economic empowerment.
- Knowledge Management: Manage knowledge building and sharing for women's economic empowerment, identifying and disseminating lessons learned and good practices, and ensuring technical skills and knowledge are shared within and among RO/PPOs/COs/MCOs.
- A Master's degree or equivalent in economics, human rights, international relations, or other social science fields is required.
- At least 10 years progressively responsible experience in designing and managing programs and advocating for gender equality and women's economic empowerment is required.
- Experience in program, policy analysis, and strategic planning, as well as leading and coaching staff in international settings, is required.
- Fluency in English and Spanish is required; knowledge of another official UN language is desirable.
