Role Description

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our Finance team in Panama. This role is ideal for someone with a strong accounting background, proven experience in professional services, and fluency in English. This role will report to a senior accountant and controller in all core accounting functions, to ensure accuracy and compliance in financial reporting. 

Job Responsibilities

• Day-to-day work in accounts receivable and expense management processes. 
• Manage day-to-day accounting operations, ensuring accurate posting of transactions in QuickBooks Online (QBO). 
• Help with the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with U.S. GAAP and Management Reporting.  
• Perform and review account reconciliations, investigating and resolving discrepancies proactively. 
• Assist with cash flow management, budgeting, and forecasting activities. 
• Ensure compliance with internal policies and external regulations. 
• Prepare schedules and provide support during audits, tax filings, and financial reviews. 
• Collaborate with leadership on process improvements and automation initiatives. 
• Mentor junior accounting staff and contribute to the growth of the finance function. 

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. 
• 3+ years of experience working with QuickBooks Online (QBO). 
• Previous experience in professional services environments (e.g., consulting, advisory, or accounting firms). 
• Full professional fluency in English (written and spoken). 
• Solid knowledge of accounting principles, reconciliations, and financial reporting. 
• Strong attention to detail, analytical mindset, and ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment. 
• Proficiency with MS Excel and other accounting tools. 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge of U.S. GAAP or IFRS. 

Experience in multinational or remote work environments. 

Strong problem-solving skills and proactive attitude.
