Result of Service
The Project Manager will be responsible for the overall project management and coordination of activities, including planning, implementation, and monitoring, as well as assistance in the supervision of project personnel and activities and financial and administrative aspects to ensure project´s objectives and results fulfilment, according to the requirements of UNEP.

The Project Manager will perform the following tasks:
1. Lead, organize and assist in supervision of the day-to-day implementation of the project.
2. Lead and coordinate the activities of the project management team.
3. Contribute with the information collection process and stakeholder outreach required for the analysis and successful implementation of the project activities and development of expected outputs.
4. Assume responsibility for the provision of project implementation services ensuring that assigned inputs are delivered on time at the right level of quality and within the allocated budget. This will entail the preparation of the necessary inputs (consultant job descriptions, terms of reference, training arrangements, equipment specifications, etc.), contract and budget management, monitoring progress in implementation.
5. Coordinate and assist in the supervision of the procurement processes and contract of consultants, services and goods, including the quality control of terms of reference or other bidding documents, ensuring that the specifications and procedures are according to UNEP requirements.
6. Assist in the supervision of work of the local experts and consultants hired by the project, assuring the highest quality of their products, in close coordination with the project specialists.
7. Assist in the supervision and evaluation process of project personnel and consultants.
8. Contribute to the preparation of project intermediate and final reports, including narrative and financial reports, in coordination with UNEP and its project partners.
9. Contribute to the development and implementation of the communication material.
10. Contribute to the exchange of information and knowledge products internally and externally of the programme.
11. Organize events, trainings, workshops and knowledge products and participate in some trainings/capacity building activities or events and quality assessment when needed.
12. Identify and advice on opportunities and implement actions to improve the overall management of the project.
13. Guarantee that gender policies are duly implemented in all project activities.
14. Identify implementation´s bottlenecks and advice, in close consultation with UNEP and its partners, on how to overcome them and improve the overall management of the project.
15. Carry out any other activity requested by project management team.

**Responsibilities**:
The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) is the leading global environmental authority that sets the global environmental agenda, promotes the coherent implementation of the environmental dimension of sustainable development within the United Nations system and serves as an authoritative advocate for the global Environment.

The UNEP Latin America and the Caribbean Office (ROLAC), located in Panama City, works closely with the 33 countries of the region and its activities are integrated into the Medium-Term Strategy and the Programme of Work approved by the United Nations Environment Assembly (UNEA).

The Chemicals, Waste and Air Quality Unit promotes the transition of countries to the sound management of chemicals and waste in order to minimize impact on the environment and human health. UNEP provides information and support initiatives to improve the management of chemicals and wastes and facilitates implementation in the region of the various international agreements in force or under negotiation, including the Basel, Rotterdam and Stockholm (BRS) Conventions, Minamata Convention on Mercury, and the Strategic Approach to International Chemicals Management (SAICM).

As part of this support to countries in the region, UNEP has presented a project proposal to the Nationally Appropriate Mitigation Actions (NAMA) Facility board with the objective of contribution to the achievement and increase of ambition of the Peruvian Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) by transforming the current solid waste treatment paradigm through the implementation of organic waste management projects with high climate change mitigation potential and capacity to deliver multiple co-benefits.
The proposal has now entered the Detailed Preparation Phase (DPP) which is to result in the NAMA Support Project (NSP) named “Organic Waste Management - Accelerating Progress Towards a Circular and Carbon-Neutral Waste Sector” so that it is ready for implementation. The NSP Outline was submitted to NAMA Facility 7th call in September 2020 and was approved to move forward into DPP.
