About World Business Lenders

World Business Lenders (WBL) provides short-term commercial loans to small and medium-sized businesses in the United States with limited access to traditional funding.

About the Role:

The Deputy General Counsel will work closely with business units on legal, compliance, regulatory, and operational matters, providing timely counsel and guidance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic advice on corporate transactions, collaborating with business partners.
  • Negotiate and structure debt and equity financings.
  • Maintain a best practices corporate governance environment.
  • Support the company's compliance program.
  • Research and evaluate risk factors for business decisions and operations.
  • Coordinate loan origination process logistics.
  • Support default management, loss mitigation, and litigation efforts.
  • Develop and monitor Legal department policies and procedures.
  • Manage outside counsel.

Requirements:

  • JD from an accredited law school required.
  • Admission to the bar in the US or DC preferred.
  • 6-10 years of experience, including law firm experience, with combined in-house legal experience desirable.
  • Able to manage multiple assignments and changing priorities effectively.
  • Demonstrated leadership and project management experience.
  • Able to perform high-level legal services independently.
  • Strong research, document drafting, and writing skills.
  • Superior analytical skills.
  • Excellent business judgment.
  • Strong verbal communication and negotiation skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Positive team attitude.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office tools.

Compensation and Benefits:

USD Salary: $120,000 per annum, commensurate with experience. 11 paid holidays, full-time consultancy contract.
