Purpose

The Regional Operations Planner is responsible for planning crane movement and vessel cargo discharge/load sequences on the vessel and in the yard. The planner must consider vessel stability, safety, and efficient yard and vessel operation.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Plan and coordinate vessel movements and cargo discharge/load sequences to ensure efficient and safe operations.
  2. Collaborate with terminals, GSP, and LOC to ensure timely and high-quality service delivery.
  3. Coordinate with yard strategists to ensure smooth vessel and yard operations.
  4. Provide and receive vessel stowage information from and to vessel operators.
  5. Prepare and communicate vessel load plans and work plans to line operators and central planners.
  6. Ensure vessel stability and safety under discharge and load criteria.
  7. Identify and implement opportunities for continuous improvement in planning and operations.
  8. Act as an active member of the Integrated Operations Center and collaborate with all functions to ensure smooth operations executions.
  9. Ensure efficient and productive planning with due consideration to vessel stability and safety.
Reporting and Scope

The Regional Operations Planner reports to the Planning Supervisor and has a domestic geographical scope.

Work/Business Contacts and Authority

The planner has shared contact with Planning Department Staff, Terminals, Line operators operations department, and central planners.

Critical Qualifications/Skills/Experience
  1. Requires a bachelor's degree in logistics, port management, industrial engineering, information technology, or a relevant field.
  2. Requires at least 3 years of experience in container terminal operations, preferably in a large facility.
  3. Requires very good knowledge of container vessel stowage and stability criteria.
  4. Requires in-depth knowledge of Navis N4 and its associated optimization and automation modules.
  5. Previous experience in different terminals is a differentiator.
  6. Understands safety regulations, safe working procedures, and safe materials handling procedures.
  7. Has familiarity with international standards of safe working practices within marine, stevedoring, and terminal operations.
  8. Requires advanced verbal and written communication skills in English and Spanish, with Portuguese being a differential.
