The LAC region has experienced a decline in immunization coverage following the COVID-19 pandemic, leading to an increase in the number of zero-dose children. In response, the regional immunization team developed a strategic document to guide country offices in recovering pre-pandemic coverage and reducing the number of zero-dose children. The document was based on data from the immediate aftermath of the pandemic. Given the evolving context, there is now a need to revise and update the Regional Strategic Plan for Immunization (RSPI) to ensure its alignment with the specific challenges and priorities of LAC countries for the 2025-2030 period.
Purpose of this consultancy
- Revise the current Regional Strategic Plan for Immunization (RSPI) based on the latest available data from the WHO and UNICEF Estimates of National Immunization Coverage (WUENIC).
- Update the RSPI narrative to reflect the revised data and ensure coherence in the suggested interventions.
- Incorporate updated interventions in the RSPI, aligning them with contextual changes identified through the new data.
**How can you make a difference?**
Key Activities/Tasks
The consultant will undertake the following tasks:
- Data review: Collect most recent immunization data from WUENC and other sources, focusing on coverage rates, particularly for zero-dose children, and update the RSPI with that data, aligning the document to the period 2025-2030
- Strategy alignment: Assess the coherence of the proposed interventions and incorporate recent strategic shifts. This will be done in close collaboration with the regional immunization team, the regional health advisor, and other key internal UNICEF stakeholders.
- Report development: Ensure that the final version of the RSPI reflects the necessary updates and aligns with the Immunization Agenda 2030.
**Deliverables / Outputs**
**To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have**- Advanced degree in public health, immunization, international health, or a related field.- Proven experience in public health and immunization programs, ideally in the LAC context.- Experience with WUNEIC data, or UNICEF data and strategies, will be an asset.- Extensive knowledge of UNICEF strategies and approaches to public health and immunization, including cross-sectoral collaboration- Fluency in English (oral and written). Spanish will be an asset.- Strong analytical skills, with a thorough understanding of data analysis in public health.- Excellent communication and writing skills, with experience working in public health strategies development.- Previous work for UN agencies will be highly valued.

**Travel**
Travel is not foreseen for this consultancy. Should travel is requested, it will be covered by UNICEF as per policy.
**Remarks**:
Individuals engaged under a consultancy or individual contract will not be considered “staff members” under the Staff Regulations and Rules of the United Nations and UNICEF’s policies and procedures and will not be entitled to benefits provided therein (such as leave entitlements and medical insurance coverage). Their conditions of service will be governed by their contract and the General Conditions of Contracts for the Services of Consultants and Individual Contractors. Consultants and individual contractors are responsible for determining their tax liabilities and for the payment of any taxes and/or duties, in accordance with local or other applicable laws.
