Serve as an advisor to the CISO and Branch Chief on all matters relating to security vulnerabilities and threats to CDC computer systems. Develop corresponding security countermeasures necessary to protect technical, complex, sensitive and classified information processed on CDC computer equipment. Keep abreast of the latest developments and initiatives in the computer security arena. Research security hardware/software and when appropriate, arranges vendor presentation guidance papers on security policy issues affecting the organization.

Perform work in the development, testing, implementation, evaluation and maintenance of emerging technology to accomplish the work of the agency. Serve as a agency technical authority for new and advanced computer security software affecting agency-wide systems. REQUIREMENTSCONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENTUS Citizenship is required. Background Investigation is required.

Minimum Qualification Requirements Attention to Detail, Customer Service, Oral Communication, and Problem Solving. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social).

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. HOW YOU WILL BE EVALUATEDFormer and present Peace Corps personnel may be considered to fill vacancies. Peace Corps personnel are eligible for consideration if you have completed at least 36 months of continuous service, without a break in service of 3 days or more.

This requirement is consistent with section 7(a) of the Peace Corps Act (22 U.S.C. 2506), which pertains to the appointment of Peace Corps staff (not volunteers) and is applicable within 3 years after separation from qualifying service with the Peace Corps. A copy of your SF-50 is required to support your request. Peace Corps Volunteers may be considered to fill vacancies.
