The objective of this consultancy is to carry out all graphic design work in support of the communication and public awareness initiatives for the CityAdapt Project in Jamaica. To execute all needed actions, the consultant will work directly with the CityAdapt Jamaica communication specialist in conjunction with all project implementing partners and the national coordinating team with reference to the regional communication strategy. This includes supporting the development and design of public awareness materials including educational toolkits, protocols, providing content for updating all local and regional virtual platforms with lessons learned, and providing all other graphic design support to the CityAdapt Jamaica communication specialist to support the national project.

The Graphic Designer will work directly in coordination with the CityAdapt Jamaica Communications Specialist and will perform the following specific activities under the overall supervision of Climate Change Adaptation Coordinator for Latin America and the Caribbean in close collaboration with CityAdapt Project's National Coordinating Team:
a) Develop graphic materials and design innovative products, including layouts of reports, publications, banners, posters, brochures, factsheets, newsletters, leaflets, flyers, cards and other materials as needed, for printing and electronic distribution
b) Develop graphics for media events, conferences or high-level lectures
c) Enhancing and editing artwork, photos, pictures and other graphic elements;
d) Custom photo editing (restoration, noise reduction, tonal adjustment)
e) Package appropriate messages for all education and awareness campaigns.
f) Assist project partners with the design of outputs as needed (eg. Toolkits for schools, project signage).
g) Support in the preparation of articles and picture stories on project activities, major milestones and outputs for distribution to stakeholders, and posting on the project website.
h) Support the development innovative communication tools and approaches to deliver the highest quality results including social media channels where necessary.
i) Provide input for embedding the TNC urban NbS eLearning course on CityAdapt’s website.
j) Provide creative and innovative ideas for print, electronic, web-based and animated presentations, while assessing the feasibility and costs of these ideas and providing recommendations.
k) Contribute to regular communication reports and updates being submitted by the CityAdapt Jamaica Communications Specialist
l) Ensuring the technical aspects related to the implementation and operation of the graphic campaigns of the unit and its implementing partners
m) Ensure that all products and reports follow UN Environment Programme and CityAdapt’s graphic guidelines
n) Liaise with the CityAdapt Jamaica communication specialist and UNEP's climate change regional communication team for planning purposes and content production
o) In partnership with the CityAdapt Jamaica communication specialist, work closely with project partners to ensure the best quality delivery of applicable outputs.
p) Provide technical support, monitoring and follow-up of graphic campaigns for UNEP and UNEP's implementing partners
q) Provide technical support on the appropriate communication and design tools, according to the target media (such as awareness-raising campaigns with print ads, videos, among others).
r) Perform any other related duties applicable to such portfolio or assigned by the CityAdapt Jamaica Communications Specialist and the national coordination team.

Detailed specifications for each assignment will be given to the selected CityAdapt Graphic Designer.

Outputs / Work Assignments

Output 3.1 Communication strategies developed to collate and disseminate knowledge on urban EbA.
Product No. 1 - Report including work plan and budget based on collaboration with the CityAdapt Communication Specialist.

Output 3.2 Public awareness communication materials developed and shared with decision-makers, community members and identified stakeholders.
Product No. 2 - Materials developed to support at least 3 project activities such as signage, educational toolkits, Electronic magazine on project achievements, regularly scheduled social media posts, website updates, press releases and Public Service Announcement (PSA)s.

Output 3.2 Public awareness communication materials developed and shared with decision-makers, community members and identified stakeholders.
Product No. 3 - Materials developed to support at least 3 additional project activities such as protocols, videos, and newspaper columns.

Output 3.5 Knowledge generated by the CityAdapt project, including lessons learned, shared through a web-based portal.
Product No. 4 - Materials developed to support Urban EbA advocacy programme geared towards teachers, students and other general school communities, as well as supporting the updating of CityAdapt’s online platform.
