PURPOSE Under the supervision of the Protection Team Leader (PTL) and in coordination with the other members of the Protection team, the Protection Field Officer contributes to the planning, implementation, monitoring of ICRC Protection activities aimed at addressing the protection needs of migrants along the Darien Gap. ACCOUNTABILITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Information Sharing and Reporting Plans, implements and reports on protection activities, including some with complete autonomy. Provides a regular analysis of the security, socioeconomic, cultural and political environment relevant to the ICRC, with an emphasis on the humanitarian impact on affected populations, shares relevant information with colleagues, and prepares written reports. Ensures the sustainability of their work and puts in place a system for archiving their work for the purposes of maintaining the institutional memory, using ICRC-specific tools and procedures.

Networking Develops, maintains and organizes contact with the municipal/regional authorities, local/regional National Society branches, the local population, suppliers, etc. Plans, organizes and reports on internal and external meetings, some with autonomy. Protection Activities Supports the PTL in the documentation, reporting and filing of PCP cases (Protection of Civilian Population) Provides briefings and technical support to staff involved in protection activities. Collects, compiles and interprets protection-related information, and prepares written reports.

Contributes to the assessment and identification of priority protection issues for further monitoring and follow-up by the ICRC. Data Management Manages and reports on protection information at the regional level, including that related to assistance (Detention, Migration, Protection of the Civilian Population, Missing/Forensic, Restoration of Family Contacts). Contributes to the improvement and creation of internal procedures for Protection, through analytical assessment of the context. Responsible for the management of the Protection Database (Prot6), according to the workflows established for activities monitored by the ICRC in all countries covered by the PAN Regional Delegation.

Collaborates with and supports the different departments that use the PROT6 database for the purpose of monitoring their operational activities. Trains and supports users of the PROT 6 database (Microsoft Dynamics) Responsible for the process of consolidated protection statistics twice a year. Provides statistical data relevant for the analysis of protection activities. Processes sensitive information of the cases followed by the PROT department.

Relationships Is responsible for creating a conducive environment (multidisciplinary approach, good team dynamics) among their own team members and with other teams. May be called upon to be in charge of additional protection activities. Upholds a high sense of responsibility and confidentiality. Internally, interacts with stakeholders on matters related to the ICRCs activities, mandate and positioning in the country.

In charge of medium-to-large protection activities and projects (detention, protection of the civilian population, restoring family links, missing and/or urban violence), including some with a degree of complexity. CERTIFICATIONS / EDUCATION REQUIRED University degree or relevant professional experience. Excellent command of written English and Spanish (French is an asset) PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE REQUIRED 6 years overall professional experience. 34 years previous experience as a social worker or in a similar field or a similar organization.

Proven experience and leadership of managing protection activities/projects, with great attention to detail. Excellent computer skills with advanced knowledge of Excel. Availability and flexibility to travel within the country. The position requires frequent field missions to key areas.
