Provide learning opportunities for the students within the classroom setting, working harmoniously with the administrative staff and parents in support of the ISP teaching philosophy, school policy, regulations, objectives, and goals. ELEMENTARY at ISP: Our primary mission is to meet the unique educational, emotional, and social needs of each and every student who walks through our doors. We accomplish this by providing a rich, holistic experience in a beautiful, state-of-the-art facility.
All staff members at ISP share a common goal - to do whatever it takes to help our students reach their full potential as learners and as global citizens. We recognize that education is a complex, dynamic process, and we constantly evaluate our practice to ensure that students are engaged, appropriately challenged, and experience joy in learning. We offer a research-based curriculum that emphasizes a strong foundation in literacy and numeracy as well as critical thinking, citizenship, and ample opportunities for creative expression. Our whole-child approach includes challenging social studies, science, and math programs.
Students stay fit and healthy in our physical education classes, experience art, and music in our enrichment classes, get hands-on access to technology throughSTEM integration, and they learn to appreciate literature through frequent visits to our comprehensive library. Students are also exposed to daily Spanish classes to either introduce them to the language or expand their Spanish language abilities as needed. In addition to these special enrichment classes, our students are engaged in social-emotional learning through weekly classroom visits and lessons from their grade level counselor. At ISP, we believe that life-long learning is critical for everyone.
Our early release time on Wednesdays is devoted to professional development activities designed to continually improve our services to students and families. Education is not static, and our staff understands the importance of keeping up with the latest research regarding effective educational practices. WHAT YOU’LL DO Be a Collaborator Work in conjunction with the other Learning Support Specialists to maintain/update the Learning Support Program at I.S.P. Support MTSS structures, including the Student Study Teams and interventions for students who have been referred by parents or teachers.
Plan and teach with homeroom teachers to remove barriers to learning. Maintain systems for documenting student files, using of these records, and disseminating information Serve as an Advocate and Interventionist for students with needs Develop programming and educational plans for students with learning difference and/or emotional/behavioral challenges in the tier 2 or 3 setting. This includes assessing, supporting, and monitoring student's specific learning needs Developing an Individual Educational Plan (I.E.P.) for every student who qualifies for individualized programming. Read and interpret psycho educational tests of students to integrate findings and recommendations into the IEP Meet with parents regularly to discuss IEP and progress Update IEP at the beginning, middle and end of year.
Collaborate with outside professionals (neurologist, psychiatrists, psychologist, etc.) when necessary Deliver Tier 2 and 3 assessments and interventions in reading and math and progress morning as necessary WHAT YOU BRING Deep dedication to learning and developing the craft of individualized instruction through Universal Design for Learning and Differentiation Highly effective collaboration, innovation and creativity.
