Result of Service
- The main objective of this consultancy is to strengthen the capacity of LAC jurisdictions, including Brazilian Amazon states, through targeted technical advice, knowledge management, and capacity-building input. This includes enabling LAC countries to engage effectively in jurisdictional REDD+ processes, carbon markets, and international climate dialogues, with a focus on integrity and safeguards, strengthening the region’s role in climate and nature action. Delivery of the following products: Output 1: Conduct a comprehensive review of benefit-sharing mechanisms in the LAC region, with a focus on applicability in Acre and Pará. Analyze safeguard measures, including legal and institutional frameworks. Identify challenges and opportunities related to integrity in implementation. Prepare actionable recommendations for stakeholders, emphasizing regional applicability. Incorporate case studies or examples from Acre and Pará to contextualize findings. Product No. 1: A document that includes: Report with analysis of benefits sharing, safeguards and integrity, with a focus on the LAC region and applicability and recommendations for Brazilian States (e.g., Acre and Para). Output 2: Design a detailed timeline for communication and advocacy activities linked to key events. Develop strategic messaging aligned with previous report outcomes for both regional and global audiences. Identify target audiences and stakeholders for advocacy efforts. Draft and refine communication materials tailored to the LAC region. Coordinate with other teams to align and execute advocacy priorities. Product No. 2: A document that includes: Roadmap document for communication and advocacy products to bolster engagement in key events and dialogues, including report outcomes and messaging for regional and global dialogues. Output 3: Review UNEP reports relevant to the LAC region and extract key findings. Adapt technical content to make it accessible and relevant for local stakeholders in Acre and Pará. Create summary documents in concise, reader-friendly formats. Tailor communication materials to align with regional priorities and cultural contexts. Validate the content with regional experts or stakeholders. Product No. 3: A document that includes: At least 3 short summary documents of UNEP reports and communications materials adapted for LAC region and Brazilian states (e.g., Acre and Para). Output 4: Plan and prepare agendas for the events, ensuring alignment with thematic focus on finance for forests and climate. Compile and confirm a participants list, including key stakeholders and experts. Facilitate events, including moderation or technical support as needed. Document discussions, key insights, and outcomes from the events. Prepare a summary report with actionable recommendations and follow-up actions. Product No. 4: A document that includes: Meeting agenda, participants list and summary for at least 2 events (in person or virtual) for the LAC region and Brazilian states (e.g., Acre and Para) focused on learnings related to finance for forests and climate. Output 5: Conduct an inventory of all technical and capacity-building activities delivered in the region. Gather feedback and results from participating stakeholders and institutions. Evaluate the effectiveness and impact of these activities. Identify gaps or areas for improvement based on stakeholder input. Draft a comprehensive report summarizing achievements, lessons learned, and recommendations. Product No. 5: A document that includes: A summary report of technical and capacity-building activities delivered for LAC countries, including Brazilian Amazon states. Output 6: Document all meetings attended with UNEP and UN-REDD teams. Compile and organize materials produced during these meetings, including ToRs, presentations, and briefing notes. Provide summaries of key discussions and decisions from meetings. Review and enhance existing documents to align with project objectives. Prepare a consolidated report detailing contributions and outcomes of the meetings. Product No. 6: A document that includes: A report with the UNEP and UN-REDD team meetings attended and documents, like ToRs, PPTs, briefing notes, speaking points, etc., produced or complemented by the consultant
