Establishing national priorities, supports the coordination between national and regional actors, building on national-level efforts to ensure coherence and consistency.

UNDP in Latin America and the Caribbean has extensive experience in implementing "Inclusive Business Methodologies", such as In Motion, Suppliers Development Programme (SDP), Starting with your business (ICSN in Spanish), and Growing with my business (CCSN in Spanish), among others.

UNDP's approach to supporting the SME ecosystem is comprehensive and inclusive:

from working to strengthen value chains to supporting governments to design national policies to support SMEs, through supporting Chambers of Commerce, so that they can promote the export of national products and promote dialogue with the private sector.

Policies count to structure support for companies, giving them value and creating resilience.

This has been linked with new initiatives of the Regional Hub, such as the SDG Investment Maps and the new initiative about the Future of Work, pushing UNDP to make a deeper reflection on the role of the Private Sector in the development of the region.


This is the reason why in 2023, we will support the elaboration of a new Private Sector Strategy that links new initiatives with all the ones ongoing.

For all these reasons, giving support to the COs in Private Sector, through different initiatives that bridge the Private Sector with development initiatives is becoming key in the region.

Scope of WorkThe Private Sector Analyst will be responsible for performing and contributing to the following:

  • In line with the Strategic Plan and Regional Programme Document and in coordination with all the clusters of the hub, support the elaboration and implementation of a Regional Private Sector Strategy, the Global Inclusive Growth Offer, the landing of the Future of Work Initiative transferring it at the regional level organizing the training for the COs. Support the development of regional training to certify "trainers of trainers" in the different regional inclusive business methodologies, transfer and appropriation of inclusive business methodologies to different COs and public institutions to support SMEs. Review and update inclusive business UNDP tools and methodologies, and its baseline, thanks to the inputs of the COS, that will contribute to increasing SMEs productivity; improve access to decent work for vulnerable groups; while building national capacities and supporting public and private partnerships. Support the management and update of a website to monitor the result and impact of the implementation of the different inclusive business methodologies at the regional level to provide technical assistance to the COs to create effective business ecosystems, through direct support to governments, chamber of commerce, and the private sector. Develop a Course on Private Sector and Human Rights. Encourage articulation with other projects at the national and regional levels to maximize the results of UNDP projects and methodologies for inclusive business; systematize and disseminate the good practices of the projects at the regional level. Elaborate proposals on informality, the future of work, and inclusive growth to create effective partnerships with donors and the private sector or any other initiative on inclusive economic development initiatives within the Inclusive Growth Cluster.
Institutional Arrangement The Private Sector Analyst will work under the direct supervision of the Regional Inclusive Growth Team Leader.
