Regional Director, Latin America and the Caribbean Regional Office

Job Overview:
The United Nations Population Fund is seeking a highly qualified and experienced professional to serve as the Regional Director for the Latin America and the Caribbean Region. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing strategic leadership and direction to the region, overseeing the implementation of UNFPA's programmes and projects, and ensuring the achievement of the organization's goals and objectives.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide strategic guidance and oversight to the regional office and country representatives in the development and implementation of programme strategies and activities;
- Lead and manage a team of professionals to achieve results through conceptual programme leadership and innovation;
- Mobilize resources from national governments, partners, and other stakeholders to support programme implementation and advancement;
- Represent UNFPA at regional and international levels, advocating for the ICPD goals and promoting the organization's mandate and priorities;
- Foster partnerships and alliances with key stakeholders, including government agencies, civil society organizations, and the private sector;
- Ensure effective communication and collaboration among country offices, regional teams, and headquarters divisions;
- Monitor and evaluate programme performance, identifying areas for improvement and developing strategies to address challenges;
- Develop and implement resource mobilization strategies to secure funding for programme activities;
- An advanced degree in public health, medicine, sociology, demography, gender, international relations, international development, economics, public administration, or a related field;
- At least 15 years of increasingly responsible professional experience in public administration and international development, with 10 years in the field of population and development at the international level;
- A deep understanding of the political, social, and economic landscape of Latin America and the Caribbean;
- Strong leadership skills, with experience in managing diverse teams and promoting a culture of performance;
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and Spanish, with knowledge of French and/or Portuguese an asset;
- A strong network within the development community and ability to build partnerships and alliances;
UNFPA offers a competitive remuneration package, including a net salary, health insurance, and other benefits.
