Latin America and the Caribbean Regional Office Director

The United Nations Population Fund is seeking a highly qualified and experienced professional to serve as the Director of its Latin America and the Caribbean Regional Office. This critical leadership position plays a vital role in advancing the organization's mission and goals in the region.
Key Responsibilities- Provide strategic direction and vision for the regional office, ensuring alignment with UNFPA's global priorities and objectives.
- Leverage expertise and experience to drive results-based programming, advocacy, and innovation in the region.
- Cultivate partnerships and alliances with governments, civil society, and other stakeholders to advance population and development goals.
- Lead and manage a team of professionals, fostering a culture of performance, learning, and growth.
- Maintain a deep understanding of the regional context, including political, social, and economic trends and perspectives.
- Advanced degree (preferably PhD) in Public Health, Medicine, Sociology, Demography, Gender, International Relations, International Development, Economics, Public Administration, Management, or related fields.
- At least 15 years of increasingly responsible professional experience in public administration and international development, with a strong focus on population and development issues.
- Proven track record of leadership, strategic thinking, and problem-solving in complex environments.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with fluency in English and Spanish required.
- Knowledge of French and/or Portuguese is an asset.

- Managerial Competencies: providing strategic focus, global leadership and advocacy for the ICPD goals, leading, developing, and empowering people, promoting organizational learning and knowledge sharing, engaging internal/external partners and stakeholders, creating visibility for the organization.
