You will play a key leadership role on WTW's International Legal and Compliance team, a world class department that support the Company and its shareholders by providing sound advice in alignment with the Company's business and strategic objectives and its core values. The Head of Legal & Compliance - Latin America ("the role") is a senior role that manages the legal and compliance functions across the WTW Latin America subregion. The role supports complex legal and compliance projects and advises leadership on a variety of legal and compliance issues related to WTW's business in Latin America.
The role manages the provision of legal advice and guidance on a wide range of legal matters, including contract preparation, review, and negotiations; litigation; M&A activity; employment issues; and regulatory developments. At the same time, the role will oversee and manage the compliance program, including identifying and assessing compliance and regulatory risks, providing guidance and advice on business conduct, ethical standards and technical regulatory advice and support to key stakeholders. The role is also expected to collaborate effectively with other OGC practice areas and WTW functions to ensure seamless support of WTW businesses in Latin America. The role is responsible for managing a team of about 20 attorneys, compliance business partners, and support staff.
The Role Manage the provision of general legal, transactional, and regulatory advice to the Latin America business leadership teams. Oversee and manage the overall compliance program for the Latin America region. Serve as trusted adviser and resource on legal and compliance matters for the above-mentioned business teams. Meet all of the Latin America region commitments within the Annual Compliance Plan and identify areas of opportunity and improvement going forward.
Develop any revisions to the compliance program due to regulatory change management or the introduction of new products. Drive functional projects and improvement initiatives aligned to OGC and WTW business objectives. Lead, motivate, and manage a professional team, including the monitoring of colleague wellbeing and progress against inclusion and diversity objectives. Undertake and oversee effective engagement with the company's business clients, government regulators, vendors, outside lawyers, trade bodies and other parties.
Manage legal and compliance issues effectively and efficiently in line with WTW objectives and values and within company and entity risk appetites. Manage outside legal and other spend in accordance with OGC budgeted spend and Outside Counsel Guidelines. Work with the broader global OGC teams as a high-functioning and collaborative group. Manage the effective use of available management information together with efficient and timely upwards reporting of all key issues and recommendations to the General Counsel, International and/or the Compliance Director, International, including all matters which must be escalated for external and internal board, committee, regulators, and other reporting purposes.
