Its scale and scope continue to grow and demands outstanding IM support.

The UNHCR-IOM supported USG SMO Initiative requires sustained information management effort in weekly reporting, production of dashboards and ad hoc IM products for the donor and for other participating governments, to support real time shoring of results as well as continuous planning, funding, and advocacy efforts, based on data and evidence.

The SMO initiative also required continuous IM coordination with the IOM regional and global data team, as well as internally with the Global Data Service and with the operations part of the SMO Initiative.

In the context of the Mixed Movement crisis in the Americas other initiatives have acquired higher level of complexity and higher visibility.

The Senior IMO leads the Issue Based Coalition on Human Mobility Information Management group, which produces public dashboards and quarterly products shared with all UN Resident Coordinators in the region and public on the RCP-LAC websites.

The Senior IMO leads the interagency cooperation on data collection and preparation of products on population flows the context of mixed movements (Mixed Movement Monitoring), IM coordination and interface with the Response for Venezuelans (R4V) platform as well as support to HRPs and HNOs.


The incumbent will be responsible for supporting operations and Multi-Country Offices in the Americas in the development and implementation of their Information Management Strategies and advise on their products particularly when it comes to situational and regional consistency.

Another key area of responsibility is to propose, conceptualize, design and prepare IM regional systems and products in close coordination with the business owners' units in the Bureau, particularly Monitoring & Evaluation, Protection, Resettlement, CBI and others.

The incumbent will be in close contact with the Operational Data Systems and Support Section in the Global Data Service.

He/she will lead the capacity building of staff, partners and other relevant stakeholders on Information Management.
The incumbent will manage three International IM staff members.

The incumbent will lead the technical work of the IM team

Living and Working Conditions:

Panama City is classified 'A' Duty Station (Family) and has good infrastructure (health, housing, banking, transportation, telecommunications and recreational facilities) and good supply of goods and services, with no particular health hazards.
