Regional Director, Latin America and the Caribbean Strategic Visionary

About the Role:
The United Nations Population Fund is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Regional Director to lead our efforts in Latin America and the Caribbean. As a key member of our global team, you will be responsible for developing and implementing strategic plans to advance our mission of delivering a world where every pregnancy is wanted, every childbirth is safe, and every young person's potential is fulfilled.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide leadership and vision for the regional office, ensuring alignment with the UNFPA Global Strategy and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
- Develop and implement strategic plans to achieve our goals in the region, including advocating at high-level policy forums and engaging with governments, civil society, and other stakeholders.
- Oversee the implementation of our country programs, ensuring that they are responsive to local needs and contribute to the achievement of our global goals.
- Build and maintain partnerships with governments, international organizations, NGOs, and the private sector to leverage resources and expertise.
- Lead and manage a diverse team of professionals, providing coaching and mentoring to ensure their success.
- Represent UNFPA at high-level meetings and events, promoting our work and advancing our advocacy agenda.
Requirements:
- A master's degree or higher in public health, medicine, sociology, demography, gender, international relations, international development, economics, public administration, management, or a related field.
- At least 15 years of experience in public administration and international development, with a strong track record of leading large-scale programs and teams.
- Deep understanding of the political, social, and economic landscape of Latin America and the Caribbean.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.
- Fluency in English and Spanish required; knowledge of French and/or Portuguese an asset.
