">The United Nations Population Fund is seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to fill the position of Regional Director, Latin America and the Caribbean Regional Office. ">About the Role
">- This leadership position reports directly to the Deputy Executive Director for Programme and is responsible for providing overall strategic vision, direction, and leadership in the region.
- The Director serves as the senior adviser within the Fund on all matters related to the region, supervising the Regional Office, Sub-regional offices (as relevant), and Country Representatives in the region.
- Key responsibilities include leading the strategic positioning of UNFPA in the region, ensuring the timely and adequate response and support to countries undergoing humanitarian crises, and promoting inter-agency coordination and consultative processes.
- The successful candidate will have a proven track record of leadership in development programmes, excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and Spanish, and fluency in French and/or Portuguese would be an asset.
- This is a five-year fixed-term appointment with the possibility of extension.
Key Qualifications
">- Advanced degree in Public Health, Medicine, Sociology, Demography, Gender, International Relations, International Development, Economics, Public Administration, Management or other related fields.
- Over 15 years of increasingly responsible professional experience in public administration and international development, with at least 10 years in the field of population and development at the international level.
- Deep understanding of the political, social, and economic landscape of Latin America and the Caribbean.
- Strong leadership skills, ability to lead, develop, and motivate a diverse team of programme specialists, and excellent network within the development community.
- Fluency in English and Spanish required; knowledge of French and/or Portuguese would be an asset.
