Strategic Director for Latin America and the Caribbean

The United Nations Population Fund is seeking a highly skilled and experienced individual to fill the role of Regional Director, Latin America and the Caribbean Regional Office.
This key position requires an individual with strong leadership skills, excellent communication abilities, and extensive experience in public administration and international development.
About the Role:- Provide strategic vision, direction, and leadership in the Region, ensuring alignment with the UNFPA's global goals and objectives.
- Supervise the Regional Office, Sub-regional offices, and Country Representatives in the region, providing guidance and support as needed.
- Advocate at the high policy level for political and financial support for the ICPD goals, representing UNFPA in regional, international, and UNSDG initiatives and events.
- Lead the integration of the ICPD agenda in SDG/UN programming in the region, ensuring that country offices and programs are aligned with global strategies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement regional strategies, including capacity development, technical support delivery, and advocacy.
- Establish priorities for the work of the Regional Office and direct the development of the Regional Office Work Plan and of the Regional Programme.
- Mobilize resources, both financial and human, to achieve regional goals and objectives.
- Ensure effective management of resources, adhering to UNFPA's financial rules, regulations, and procedures.
- Serve as the senior adviser on regional issues to the senior management of UNFPA, providing expert advice on regional matters.
Requirements:
- Advanced degree (preferably PhD) in Public Health, Medicine, Sociology, Demography, Gender, International Relations, International Development, Economics, Public Administration, Management, or other related fields.
- Over 15 years of increasingly responsible professional experience in public administration and international development, with at least 10 years in the field of population and development at the international level.
- Deep understanding of the political, social, and economic landscape of Latin America and the Caribbean.
- Strong track record of leadership in development programmes, with proven ability to lead, develop, and motivate diverse teams.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and Spanish, with fluency in French and/or Portuguese being an asset.
