The Position:The role of Director, Regional Office, is located in the Latin American and the Caribbean UNFPA Regional Office (LACRO), and reports directly to the Deputy Executive Director for Programme. The Director is a member of the Executive Committee, providing overall strategic vision, direction, and leadership in the Region. They serve as the senior adviser within the Fund on all matters related to the Region.

- Programme Support and Representation
- Programme Oversight and Results Management
- Operational Leadership and Resource Management
The Director supervises the Regional Office, Sub-regional offices (as relevant), as well as the Country Representatives in the region. Key activities include:
- Providing continuous feedback and advice to the Office of the Executive Director on political, economic, and social trends and perspectives in the region;
- Advancing UNFPA's strategic vision, goals, and outcomes in the development of regional and country strategies and programmes and in the monitoring and reporting activities of the Region;
- Establishing priorities for the work of the Regional Office and directing the development of the Regional Office Work Plan and of the Regional Programme;
- Leveraging resources of national governments and partners, and building strategic alliances and partnerships;
The Director chairs the Regional Management Team to ensure an integrated and coordinated achievement of regional goals and objectives.
Qualifications and Experience:An advanced degree (preferably PhD) in Public Health, Medicine, Sociology, Demography, Gender, International Relations, International Development, Economics, Public Administration, Management, or other related fields is required. Over 15 years of increasingly responsible professional experience in public administration and international development, with 10 years in the field of population and development at the international level, is essential.
A deep understanding of the political, social, and economic landscape of Latin America and the Caribbean is crucial. Strong leadership skills, a proven ability to motivate a diverse team, and excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and Spanish are also required.
